We have long listened to Emmanuela’s beautiful voice across the venues of Manchester and are thrilled that she’ll be joining us for this year’s Voices of the Revolution.
Originally from DR Congo, Emmanuela has been singing from the age of 6 in church choirs and bands back home ad now in Manchester. She is the founder member and Lead vocalist of the African Gospel Band ‘Testimony’. Emmanuela writes Afro world music and Afro Jazz in Swahili, Lingala, French and English. She writes lyrics from the heart brought to life with sweet mesmerising melodies.
Emmanuela is a core member of Beating Wing Orchestra. Beating Wing Orchestra is a Manchester based international music collective who seamlessly combine sweet Congolese melodic lines, spiritual Indian vocals and gritty Bangla hip-hop with the passion and soulfulness of Bosnian music.
They have performed twice at Manchester International Festival collaborating with Malian superstars Amadou and Mariam, Palestinian composer Reem Kelani and Indo-jazz clarinettist Arun Ghosh. They have also collaborated with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra creating a new theme tune for BBC Radio Manchester’s Introducing Show
Beating Wing Orchestra are one of the most creatively exciting bands in the North West today.
